SPECIAL INTERVIEW SESSION WITH THE CO-OWNER OF VIDASTREAM INTERNET RADIO STATION - CHUKWUNWIKE OBIORA
DKB: For those who wish to know you better, can you introduce yourself ?
Response: I am chukwunwike obiorah from ANAMBRA STATE. The co-owner of VIDASTREAMEDIA.

DKB. How did you start up your internet radio station? What inspired you to set up your internet radio?
Response: It all stated started like a joke, but am glad it is a reality today. Actually I came up with the idea of the radio. I was watching a documentary on T.V how some foreigners came to a particular country(GAMBIA). They came to see some new innovation some youths have created or invented.
There was this little boy whom the foreigners were so interested in and amazed at what he invented. This little boy went to a dump site, collected a spoilt radio transmitter repaired it and created his own small RADIO station at the back of his house. He had a small amplifier, a microphone and a sound system were he plays the for the listeners to hear. The foreigners that came were soo amazed with what he has created. From there on, they took him up and sponsorsed him abroad. I was inspired with what I saw. So, l called my brother who studied MASS COMMUNICATION and i asked him, i said 'bro! can't we do this? you studied Mass Communication in school. He taught about it and we worked towards it.
DKB: What were the challenges you faced while setting up your radio station and how were you able to surmount them ?
Response: The challenges we faced. First we taught about doing a terrestrial radio, but the money involved was beyond our budget. It will cost us about N20million to do a terresrial RADIO .
So we decided to go for the internet radio because it was within our budget and it has a wider range.
Every body today uses an internet connected device all over the world. Terrestrial radio is within a particular locality,while internet is all over the world ( which makes it better and easy for people abroad to listen).
DKB: Who would you say have greatly influenced you and what effect has it brought to your life and business?
Response: The person who has greatly influenced me is MY DAD. Because he was the first person we told about the idea and he believed in us. He was the person that gave us the MONEY to start the RADIO.
DKB: You recently celebrated your anniversary? Who and who graced the occasion and what would you say is your greatest joy?
Response: Yes we celebrated our 4th year anniversary and AWARD NIGHT in 2019. We gave awards to some veteran actors, actresses and music artists. Individuals like late Sound Sultan, Christian Paul (actor), JOEL AMADI (music artist) , Mama Ajasco, Network (music artist) and a host of other renowned entertainment veterans.
This year will make it the 7th year we've been in the internet radio business.
DKB: Can you tell us total number of audience you have, the widest reach and the various locations where your internet radio station is being listened to?
Response: We have a minimum of 1 million listeners from different parts of the world including nigeria.
DKB: For those who have the desire to replicate what you are doing, what would be your strongest advice to them and what steps should they follow?
Response: For those who desire to replicate what i'm doing, firstly you need to have the passion for it because it is not easy. You need to be consistent.
DKB. What is the major focus of your radio station? Entertainment, politics, academic, sports, fashion etc?
Response: Our major focus is entertainment. Our motor is "the station that entertains the world" . All the program's we have are majorly to entertain our listeners. No dull moment.
DKB: What do you hope to accomplish in the nearest possible future?
Response: What i hope to accomplish in the nearest future is to be the leading internet radio in the whole world by the grace of God. We are always on 24hours.
